HOW CAN I KNOW FOR SURE?

Do you know if you will go to heaven?

How Can I Know for Sure If I Will Go to Heaven?

Do you KNOW?

What if something tragic were to happen? Do you know for sure that you would go to heaven? How important do you think that question is? I believe that is the most important question you will ever ask yourself. That’s okay though, because the Bible is pretty clear on the matter.

Here’s what the Bible teaches:

FIRST) you are lost without God. It’s this simple. God is perfect, and you and I are not. I have never even met you, but I know you have sinned against God. This is hard for some people to accept about themselves. Others accept it, but don’t understand what that means… however the Bible teaches that this is true for every man and woman on the face of the Earth. If you are still not convinced, then just answer this: Have you ever told a single lie? Did you know the bible says that all liars shall have their part in the lake of fire (Rev 21:8)? Have you ever stolen anything; even something small? Have you ever committed sexual immorality, gotten drunk, coveted other people’s things…? Did you know the bible also says that people that do those things will not enter into heaven (1 Cor 6:9-10)? The thing is, we have all committed sin; whether it is that kind of sin or some other sin… No one is without sin… —”For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” (Rom 3:23).

More importantly, what we need to understand is that there is a very serious consequence for sin. We don’t think about it that seriously, because frankly we live in a world full of sin, and if we are honest we have been living with our own sin for our entire lives. We like to point at others, or justify our actions on the basis that surely my sins aren’t that bad… and certainly my good deeds outweigh the bad… But here is the thing, it doesn’t matter how many good deeds you have, because you still have the sin, and there is a tremendous price for that sin. In fact, it is the most serious of all consequences… The Bible says that the consequence of our sin is spiritual death. “For the wages of sin is death…” (Rom 6:23). That’s right… spiritual death is hell… Now, I know that nobody likes to hear that, and I am certainly not anxious to be the one to tell you, but it is still true regardless of whether or not we want to hear it. Because of our sin, the Bible teaches that every last human being on the face of this planet is condemned to an eternal damnation in the lake of fire. There is not one single person that can avoid this sentence on their own. — “There is none righteous; no, not one” (Rom 3:10); God’s standard is perfection, and there isn’t any of us that can ever live up to that standard. God is right to demand that too, because He is God. Now, think about it. Can YOU be perfect? Even if you could from here on out, you still have the sins you have already committed to pay for. If God judges you based on His perfect moral standard, what excuse will you give Him the day you stand before Him? You will have no excuse at all… (At least not a good one).

But here is the wonderful news of the Bible! God loved YOU so much that He sent His one and only begotten Son, Jesus Christ in order to reconcile men. When Jesus died on the cross, He paid for every sin that you and I would ever commit so long as we repent from our sin of rejecting God, and trust in His work to save us. What I am saying is, we deserved to die, because it was OUR sin… But because of God’s great love for us, He gave His only Son to die for us. — “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son…” (John 3:16a); “But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Rom 5:8

The Bible says that if YOU will turn away from our sins, and stop trusting in your works, and put your trust entirely in Jesus Christ, YOU will be saved. Put away the old person (the liar, the thief, the yeller, the drunkard, etc.), and put on Jesus Christ — “For whoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Rom 10:13)

If you understand that you are lost and hopeless to save yourself, and know that just like me and every other person out there, that your only hope is to call out to Jesus Christ, then do not delay another moment. Right now pray a simple prayer from your heart. Acknowledge that you have sinned, and reach out for Jesus Christ to save you.
